Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are writing to you because of our concern over several significant issues facing
the membership. Recently, a number of retired members met to discuss these issues
and concluded that it was in everyone's interests to create a group that will focus on
retirement issues. These issues affect all members, active and retired, and we are
committed to educating the membership on these issues and advocating as well. This
Association, separate and independent from the Local Union, was formed to establish
an open line of communication with our elected leaders as well as the Trustees of our
pension and health plans. We are asking you, as well as other active and retired
members, to join us.
C.A.U.S.E. is funded entirely by individual contributions and all contributions will
be used exclusively on research, correspondence and communication on these
important retirement issues. The issues that we are concerned about include Pension
Benefit Increases, Retiree Health and Welfare Costs, Retirees Dues Check off
and the Suspension of Benefit Rules for retirees who wish to continue working.
